THE QUEEN BEFORE THE CROWN WALK

This walk looks at the London locations for the Queen's life before her accession to the throne in 1952, as a girl, as a young woman, a bride and a mother.

  • The site of the house where she was born.

  • The site of the 'house' (a very big house with a ballroom and lift and Boy Scout operating the telephone system, but a house and not a palace nonetheless) where she lived until her father became king in 1936.

  • The Queen's first marital home.

The walk also takes in the various influences, from her father's devotion to duty to her uncle's dismissal of responsibility, her arranged marriage, her claustrophobic upbringing, her spoilt sister, that made the Queen a better monarch than we ever deserved.

The Queen Before the Crown Walk typically lasts around two hours. Please contact me for information on times, availability and prices.
